L.A.'s hottest all-girl band is the all-dude Dan Band. Led by macho fist-pumper Dan Finnerty, the group has won devoted fans for their rollicking versions of "Lady," "Genie in a Bottle" and "You Oughta Know." Their "Total Eclipse of the Heart" will have weeping Bonnie Tyler-size tears. Dan & Co. have also become Tinseltown's go-to party band (Old School, Starsky and Hutch, The Hangover). In case you haven't figured it out yet, they're ironic! Then there's opening act the Lampshades, the boozy lounge duo of Kate Flannery and Scot Robinson usually found teetering on IO West's tiny stage to maybe a dozen audience members. Are they planning any special effects or new outfits for this fancy venue? Nope, confirms Flannery, "Hot dance moves and very red lipstick are the Lampshades' special effects. Same time-honored jumpsuit. The old jumpsuit ain't broke so we ain't gonna fix it." She adds, "We're trying to get the winners of the Lampshades look-alike contest in the show but their mother says the show is past their bedtime."
