Things Culver City has in common with New York City: Um — both have "city" in their names. Okay, there are really no similarities. The New York International Film Festival takes over the Culver Plaza Theatres for the next eight days, and though you can't take the subway there or find a restaurant open after 10 p.m., you can enjoy loads of premieres, panels and awards ceremonies. Screenings include Dirty, the doc on rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard, and We the People, a documentary directed by Vin Diesel. Okay, maybe this fest would never actually fly in its namesake town.
