Lula Washington Dance Theater reprises its joyous, high-stepping celebration of the seven traditions of Kwanza in a two-day Kwanzaa Festival . The locally based troupe and Washington's choreography have gained national recognition for its blend of contemporary dance with a distinctive African-American sensibility, a combination that has been showcased over the past 18 years in this exuberant Kwanza program.  LWDT demonstrates once again how, in a multicultural metropolis like L.A., the seven days of Kwanzaa fit right in with the eight days of Hanukah and the 12 days of Christmas.
