EGGS BEFORE SPLATTER

Director Tobe Hooper shook up the shock-schlock genre with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Salem's Lot and Poltergeist, and now his long-thought-lost debut film, Eggshells, is on public view for the first time since the 1960s. Less likely to scare the bejeebus out of you than his later works, Eggshellsis more a hippie ode to art, love and cinema, an Austin counter-culture moment captured on film. The film screens as the latest in Hollywood Mobmov's drive-in series, where you actually sit in your car and watch the movie (the screening may move indoors later this month, depending on weather conditions). Eggshellsis set for imminent DVD release by Watchmaker Films.
