Found this interesting piece of news on the Internet machine: "Per pound, lobster is less expensive than hot dogs right now." This from a grumpy lobster-boat captain in Maine. "Demand for lobster is down 30 percent to 35 percent, versus 10 percent to 15 percent for other seafood, according to Michael Tourkistas, CEO of the Lynn, Mass., seafood distributor East Coast Seafoods. "Lobster is considered a celebration food — a feel-good food — and right now people people don't have a lot to celebrate." The hell they don't, Mr Tourkistas! Just ask the organizers of The Original Long Beach Lobster Festival. This weekend, Long Beach becomes your destination for lobster feasts, along with music that goes down easy with sweet, white crustacean provided by the Disco Kings and Bonne Musique Zydeco (Fri.); Armand St. Martin, the Bill Magee Blues Band, Orquesta Charangoa, Upstream, the Zydeco Dance King A.J. Gibbs (Sat.); Nathan Owens Motown and Soul Review, Hush, featuring Eddie Estudillo, Hugh Von Kleist, and Eddie Baytos and the Nervis Bros. Plus: storytelling and moon bouncers for the kids, and a live-sports tent where you can fall down like a beached whale with melted butter running down your cheeks.
