JAILHOUSE ROCK, NOT!

The heck with the homeless, the handicapped or the disease-stricken; when it comes to fighting for good causes, let's rally around prisoners' rights. And who better to rally than former prisoner Johnny Cash? In director Bestor Cram's 1987 doc, Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison, you get a behind-the-bars view of how the Man in Black created the legendary album using his famous 1968 jailhouse cafeteria performance as a launching pad. Candid interviews with Jim Brown, June Carter Cash and children, Merle Haggard, backup musicians and inmates (druggies, rapists and murderers, oh, my!), complete with barbed-wire backgrounds, may inspire you to volunteer at your local correctional center.
