If you thought the only needlepoint in baseball involved steroids, this may change your mind: It's the constitutionally bizarre pairing of knitting and Major League Baseball at today's National NeedleArtspresented "Stitch 'n' Pitch" appearance at Dodger Stadium. The NNA dedicated to heightened awareness of knitting, crocheting, embroidering, cross-stitching and needlepoint gets big points for properly inserting apostrophes both before and after the abbreviated 'n,' but really? Well, if they can have All-You-Can-Eat Seats, anything's fair game. You can crochet and knit as the game plays on and the "woof woof" you encounter is not that of dejected Arsenio Hall and/or Phillies fans but instead the fiber woven perpendicular to warp fibers to make fabric. Look at it creatively: You can crochet a net in which to catch fly balls, those big knitting needles make excellent skewers for Dodger Dogs, and who doesn't love wearing those festive embroidered "We're #27" hands?
