Boise Good Dancer

Since starting at Houston Ballet, Trey McIntyre has choreographed 75 ballets for companies all over the world, including Northern California, where he established his West Coast cred with a series of new works for the Sacramento Ballet that had audiences literally on their feet cheering. Last year, McIntyre gave up his freelance choreographer status to shoulder the Sisyphean task of establishing a new ballet company, the Trey McIntyre Project . With a base in Boise, Idaho, McIntyre assembled a small but awesome touring troupe filled with his type of dancer -- athletic, fearless, extraordinarily musical and able to move seamlessly from classical ballet to the most contemporary movement on a downbeat. The troupe's debut performance last summer at the prestigious Jacob's Pillow Festival drew high praise from New York critics with a similarly enthusiastic reaction at the company's SoCal debut at the Laguna Dance Festival last September. L.A. audiences have two chances to sample this vibrant ensemble and the compelling choreography of this stunning choreographer. The program includes "Leatherwing Bat" set to Peter Paul & Mary's children's album, A Day in the Life , and a preview of his newest, "White Bird," scheduled for premiere later this month. For video of McIntyre's company go to www.treymcintyre.com.
