Post-Modern Poster Boy

Dancemaker David Gordon first came to fame within the dance community as a member of modern dance's groundbreaking Judson Church performances and gained even wider public profile when Mikhail Baryshnikov collaborated with Gordon and dancer Valda Setterfield. In 1982, Gordon created Trying Times (Remembered) which he described as his "anti-signature" piece inspired by overheard subway conversations and audaciously using Stravinsky's Apollo. For this recreation, Gordon has reassembled several of the original cast including Satterfield augmented by five dancers from CalArts. L.A. gets the first look before performances in New York.
