Rockie Ascendent: A Farewell to Our Favorite Stargazer

A farewell to our favorite stargazer

Note to Rockie's readers: There will be a public memorial for the late astrologer on November 15, 3-6 p.m., at Boardner's, 1652 N. Cherokee Ave., Hollywood (323-462-9621).

All and everything goes this Halloween, as liberating Uranus and daring Mars perfect their rewarding trine.

—The Rockie Horoscope, Oct. 30, 2008

Rochelle “Rockie” Gardiner, Sagittarius, departed planet Earth at 11:11 a.m. on Friday, October 31, Halloween.

She was 70.

Rockie was born in Brooklyn and raised in Lawrence, on Long Island.

She attended Syracuse University and received a degree from Barnard College.

She worked in publishing at Doubleday, where she was an editor of children’s books.

While at Doubleday she worked with literary luminaries such as Shirley Jackson and Arthur Miller.

Rockie married the love of her life, Peter Gardiner, in 1958.

Peter was a cutting-edge psychedelic film director and a pioneer of “pop films” (the predecessor to music videos).

In 1963, Rockie and Peter had a son, Jeremy Gardiner, and Rockie left the publishing world to make more time for her family.

While living in Laurel Canyon in 1966, Rockie found her calling when she was introduced to astrology by a friend.

Tragically, Rockie was widowed in October 1968. She never remarried.

Rockie’s column, THE ROCKIE HOROSCOPE, first appeared in the L.A. Weekly in 1983.

Although she found her astrological calling years before, it was in the pages of the Weekly that she found her voice.

Her column’s pop-culture references to celebrity, rock & roll, politics and professional sports resonated with readers and brought her a cult status.

Rockie’s column went on to become nationally syndicated and even graced the pages of Vogue magazine.

She was one of a kind — fiercely intelligent, insightful, sometimes caustic, always witty, introspective and often inspiring.

She will be greatly missed, not just by her close-knit circle of family and friends, but also by so many of you, who connected with her through her column.

Rockie, recognizing how important that connection has been for many of you over the last 25 years, requested that a public memorial be held for her readers. (Details will be posted soon at laweekly.com.)

Rockie Gardiner was predeceased by Harry Greene and Bess Miller (parents), John Miller (brother), Linda Miller (sister) and Peter Gardiner (husband).

She leaves behind a son, Jeremy “The Crab” Gardiner (Los Angeles), Uncle Leo Marshall (Brooklyn), and Dr. David and Nancy Milstein of Scarsdale (sister and brother-in-law), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, her partner-in-crime Vicky Taft (Los Angeles) ... and her black cat, Terra Kitty.

Hey Rock, Been one hell of a year- finding out my cancer came backafter 11 years - and then a call from Vickie, right after I got the news- Did I hear about you? We just started emailing again. Can't believe I'll come to LA and not see you. Your last email was so upbeat! Jeremy, your mom was so proud of you- but I guess you know that. Miss you Rockie- but ever so grateful you were in my life. I guess I can look up at the night sky and your light will be shining brightly. See you in the hereafter! Love Susan

I am so bummed to hear that "Rockie" is no longer with us. I have been reading her horoscope since she was published in the Berkeley Express newspaper and then I tracked her down online. She was an AMAZING astrologer and she was always on target. She will be greatly missed...

  • Sophi 12/14/2008 1:02:00 AM

Oh Rockie!! What will I do without you - I've saved horoscopes where you called it precisely as it happened - let's not forget her call during the first Bush election! I'll miss you my dear friend & thank you! I'm so scared to do this on my own because during moments of doubt - I had you. I guess I'll have to learn to fly on my own. Thank you for being my guide for so many years Sophi in Mesa AZ

  • Chris 12/12/2008 8:25:00 AM

Rockie was the best astrologer I've ever read. What a talent! I am still greiving over her absence; and am stunned and amazed when I reflect on her Halloween exit date. She truly was WONDERFUL and I miss her columns mightily. I've been a follower for over 10 years and my life is a little tilted without her. I wish I had been able to attend the memorial! Wherever she is now, it is better because she is there. May she rest in eternal peace and happiness.

  • EVE JONES 12/06/2008 12:05:00 PM

One of the only reasons I picked up the LA Weekly was for Rockie's Scopes. I have been wondering why I couldnt find it the last couple of weeks so I looked it up. I am so very sorry that we all have lost one of the best Astrologers I have read in all my years of reading horoscopes. I send her Son and Family my truest sympathy and she will be very missed. I love Halloween it's a very magical day and my favorite holiday. I will light a jack-o-lattern every Haolloween in memory of her. Sincerely, Eve

  • MIchael Dare 12/04/2008 7:00:00 PM

I think astrology is nonsense, but during my 10 years at the LA Weekly Rocky was one of my favorite people, the one I most looked forward to running into at the office. She was funny, compassionate, complete warm and open, always curious about what you were up to, one of the most genuinely empathetic humans I've ever met. Here's a hug, Rocky, I loved you and damn you'll be missed.

  • Heemal 11/26/2008 8:56:00 PM

So very, very sad. You will be missed. I came back from Maui, eager to catch up on LA Weekly's Rockie. At first, I thought LA Weekly had removed the column and was set to write an angry letter. But alas, the sad news. Where to find the star's guidance now? Looking up. Sincere thank you for all the years of prescient and useful insight.

  • rob 11/21/2008 6:06:00 AM

Thank you Rockie. Dance with the stars

  • Paul 11/21/2008 4:26:00 AM

Our dear Rockie, With your commentary, I could tell you were a part of the 60's revolution. You warned people of what was to come with amazing accuracy. Your technical explanations of what the planets were doing and how they affected each was incredible. Thank you for sharing your gift with the public. Love ya whole bunch, Paul

  • L Smith 11/20/2008 7:57:00 AM

I have lived in Ca for 20 + years and when introduced to LAWeekly I fell immedicately for Rockie's weekly column. I am disappointed that she is no longer w/us. I will miss her.

  • Lily 11/20/2008 7:48:00 AM

    I will miss her kindness.

  • Monique 11/20/2008 5:54:00 AM

Rockie has been a part of my life for so long now, I don't even know what year I started reading her, because it's like she was always there. Somewhere around 86-87. She has been a part of my personal process & an anchor of sorts. I would often read it to my friends, family, or anyone passing through the room, starting off with, "Well, we better see what Rockie has to say about this". Her accuracy when it came to the human condition was uncanny. She always nailed it & wrote the column so personally, it was like a note from a friend who KNEW you. Everyone got a little bit of Rockie & the energy she gave these many years was well appreciated by all, but especially me. I already miss you so. I hope your with your true love dancing in the Milky Way!

  • Charles Hefner 11/20/2008 2:55:00 AM

You know, I just found out about the passing of Rockie, I am in shock. I always was looking for her every Thursday. She was by far the most accurate Astrologer that i ever knew and I have known quite a few in my day and experiences. God bless her and all that she stood for while she was here with us. I will sorely miss her big time. love, Charles

  • Virginie 11/19/2008 1:55:00 PM

Dear Rockie, It feels so wrong to get along without your weekly text. Miss you so much ! Do hope there is such thing as afterlife, planet ballet and stars rising, and that you get the golden good feeling you do deserve as payback for all those years you've been walking with us. Thanks. V.

  • Tara 11/19/2008 12:47:00 PM

I will miss Rocky Gardner who's column has been part of my weekly ritual for many years. I appreciated her wit, incite and guidance by the stars! Brightly may she fly....

  • David Toerne 11/18/2008 7:59:00 AM

May God bless her. The only (LA Weekly) bookmark in my browser until I discovered Bill Raden is still alive in L.A., and writing/reviewing.

  • linda 11/18/2008 1:16:00 AM

ohmigod. My weekly staple for the past 15 years is gone. i'm in shock. who's going to take her place. I first began reading her column in the LA Weekly 15 years ago when i lived in Burbank and worked in Glendale CA. She has been my sage and I relied on her wisdom as a guiding light thru the fog.of Pluto in my sign..Her parting column hints at the major transition about to manifest itself in MY LIFE,me, a triple Sag, in the days and weeks and months and years ahead. This makes me sad. I lost a friend. Condolences to all her dearest friends, other loyal readers like myself, and family.

i came across rockie horoscope in the pages of willamette week here in portland. and when it was replaced with Real Astrology (which I like), I looked for Rockie's horoscope on line and read it everyday. The best thing about it was that she actually told you where the planets were, interpreted those changes, and used colorful adjectives to remind you the forces each planet represented. That allowed me to create my own interpretation, as well. i don't know how I'm going to locate myself in the universe now.

ROCKIE, DEAR..... Every step of your writing career was a high: from your column in the paper, to going online, all the way to The Village Voice....yeah! earlier posts! I was there to appreciate your wit. You were there to greet my day. After reading you, I could face it. With candor. No one can fill your shoes. Come back, soon!

I am so bummed to have missed your public memorial, today. You lifted my spirits daily and graced my life for so many years, with hope and humor. As an ardent admirer of your writing talent of your wit and ability to center each day with both force and a joke, your continual writing accomplishment will never be rivaled. We met in 1998. How time flies! I am sorry you left us so soon.

I first thought that Rockie was having technical difficulties (but no, Mercury wasn't retrograde), or that she was on vacation. Then the sad, unexpected news - she was my first click every morning, a friend helping me prepare for the day, week or year ahead. Reading her bio I was moved to learn that she had lost the love of her life so long ago - yet she managed to continue giving the rest of us, strangers, so much. I'd like to think that as sad as those are who are left behind, death is but the end of her work here on earth and she is onto something better.

I picked up this week's LAWEEKLY today, 11/14, and the first thing I looked for was the Rocky Horoscope, of course. I flipped through all the pages, couldn't find it. Went to the index and couldn't find it. And for some reason I decided to look at "The Letters." I am devastated to learn of Rocky's passing, but how incredible it was destined to be on Halloween. I will sorely miss her horoscopes. She was absolutely the best. Has a designated organization(s) been specified for donations to be sent in her memory?

When I lived in LA I read Rockie religiously. I had started reading her column again via the net and had been thinking about logging on recently and did today and found that she has passed on. I always thought she was the best astrologist ever. The readings she gave were so accurate it was scary. She really made a believer of me. I will so miss her column. I really regret never getting an individual reading from her.

My deepest condolences to Rocky's family and closest friends....I began reading rocky scopes in 93....her sag wit and deep insights into the cosmos are beyond anything out in print these days.... in my opinion, because she was eerily right on, sort of like hearing a secret you needed to hear..and funny and sobering at the same time...I am truly thankful for her life, her insights and all the fun my friends and I had pouring over her forecasts...Thursdays will never be the same yet always remembered as the day I got an inside line, when I could check my insights with hers and clear vision was achieved, even if it took a few days to sink in...Love you Rocky!!! You will be missed...

I'm still having a hard time accepting this news. I have been reading her weekly column since the 80's and as many others who have posted here , just kept staring at the article about her passing. Now, when I pick up the LA Weekly I will feel an emptiness as the Rockie Horoscope was always the first thing I read and looked forward to each week. No one can ever replace her insight and humor. Life is change, which is what this nation is going through right now. Who knows how long it will take to find someone who will make us all smile and think again. May God bless her soul and family. She will be greatly missed.

Rockie was a daily inspiration for years ! I had the luck to meet her while doing a movie about the Doors. She was the original LA Woman, and some friends told me the song of the same name had been written by Jim Morrison about her ! Rockie, we will miss you all over the world, so sad you could not make it tpo 2012 !!! LOVE & Respect Philman

Dear Rockie, Thank you so much for your words of wisdom, day in, day out, week in ,week out, year in , year out for many years. You are truly missed. I looked forward to each weeks new column online. It was a roadmap with signs for potholes and glad tidings. My condolences to your family, friends, and fellow LA Weekly staffers. BTW, LAW, I was glad to see the archives although they are misaligned. Im glad I kept mine. Thanks again and good wishes to all.

Wow! I was stunned to learn of Rockie's demise...I didn't even know she was sick...I was further stunned to read her eulogy here on LAWeekly, and to find out she was a fellow Sadge AND fellow Syracusan...no wonder I was always compelled to read her column every week! I will miss her insights and interpretations of current events in connection with the cosmos. She was truly one special star! By writing this, I hope it confirms what you should've already known...she touched more people than you can imagine! Godspeed Rockie, and thank you!

I remember one of my Rockie Horoscopes very clearly. It made a reference to one of my all time favorite tv shows and the horoscope rang eerily true for me that day. i clipped it out and carried it with me for years until I lost it somewhere along the way :( I always loved reading them and will miss Rockie!!

  • Helen 11/13/2008 3:03:00 AM

IN MEMORIUM I too am an ex-pat that revisited LA for a few moments online every day for the past 2 years when I plugged into Rockie's vibes on the laweekly website. Most of my 20 years In LA were informed by Ms. Rockie, and I always wondered about her, how she got her name, and about her life - especially that rumor that she knew Jim Morrison. But mostly, I learned at her knee. Rockie didn't just give a horoscope, she discussed the movement of the planets in a way that made astrology both understandable and compelling. I too will always consider her a mentor, and though I still have much more to learn, I learned a lot under Rockie's watch. Rockie seemed like a presence that would be eternal, something that is just "always there for you" - as inevitable as morning coffee. That is why so many of us were somewhat shocked to find out she was, indeed, mortal after all. 11:11 on Samhain - you've got to believe she chose her time, like a great astrologer would. No one can fill your shoes Rockie, but I hope someone will continue your work at the laweekly. I won't be able to be at Boardners, as I'm in the Southern Hemisphere now, but I used to live 10 minutes away by cab, and so on Saturday I'll take the mental journey back there to say good by - someone knock back a drink for me, please, in Rockie's honor. Rockie, after Saturday, we won't keep you any longer by wishing you were still here. Let your spirit lift high and swiftly through your beloved stars and beyond, propelled by our prayers and deeply profound good wishes, powered by all the love you generated in your magical season here on Gaia.

Dear Jeremy and those who were fortunate to live close to Madam Rochelle, The lady was so accurate in her forcasts that there was no way, we could miss them or even delay reading them past morning. Her guidance was very valuable for us. I offer my heartiest "Obeisance, thanks and love" to madam Rochelle. She was a great lady and will remain so in our hearts. I pray to Almighty to give her soul peace and keep her close to His holy feet. Regards, Mala Jha Ranchi, Jharkhand India

It's interesting how emotionally affected we can be by the passing of someone we didn't really know. When the someone in question is capable of striking this type of chord, we know the power of her words and work have touched us and we will miss the wisdom contained therewithin.

  • Strega 11/11/2008 10:48:00 AM

If she left weekly forecasts, where are they?! Don't deny us the last bits of her knowledge.

  • cc gemini 11/11/2008 9:42:00 AM

No! I want Rockie to come back. How will I know when to call in sick to work (moon voids!)? Her forecasts were something I checked devotedly for a long time. Is there anyone comparable? ...and she left when the veil was thinnest...

  • Susanna de Falla 11/11/2008 3:26:00 AM

I have slavishly read Rockie's column since the early 1980's, as a resident of Silverlake, Los Angeles, and later, Long Beach, and a reader of the LAWeekly. I always found something witty, something wise, and something fantastic there, satisfying all my needs... to predict the universe, to "guide" my petty little existence in coherent fashion with its movements...And when I moved out of loco Southern California, I was ecstatic to follow her DAILY on-line. She will be greatly missed, and hopefully some of the words of those of us not able to attend her memorial will be read there. I would be honored if mine were included.

  • Eileen 11/11/2008 1:10:00 AM

She was the best ever! I'm shocked that she disappeared so suddenly from our lives.I 've depended on her for the last 6 years for her unique perspective.(I'm an astrologer and trained psychotherapist , but I still needed her input .!) Rocki Gardiner's voice will be sorely missed by many. Thank you for carrying her column for so long.

  • Glenn 11/11/2008 12:32:00 AM

Sad news. I have been reading her column every day for years, and will greatly miss her insightful writing.

  • Silvana Carrasco 11/10/2008 10:07:00 PM

I am shocked to learn Rockie has left the movie of life. Will miss her dearly. Have been reading her horoscopes since her arrival to the LA Weekly in the 80's. She was the MOST reliable astrological source that I can think of. I will particularly miss her head's up on Mercury Retrogrades. I know they can be found elsewhere, but Rockie always had a unique take on what any aspect might portend. Rest in peace, Rockie! The City of Angels will miss you.

I followed a link from Rob Brezny's column, Freewill Astrology, to Rockie's column years ago, and have been hooked ever since. Every day, especially Thursday, I'd check Rockie's words of wisdom. Sincere condolences to her family, friends, Kitty. I have a (surprisingly) big void in my day without her insights.

I feel as though I've lost a dear friend. The comfort is that she is back with her husband and soul mate. She will be greatly missed by many.

Dear Rockie, Shoulda' known all along you were a New Yorker!! Congratulations on your commencement. I hope your hubby and family met you when you arrived. You held the flashlight for me for a long time, I guess I'll have to take it from here. You will be missed. You done good, Your pal, Furby

  • Jack Sedaka 11/10/2008 8:25:00 PM

Dear Rockie, Thanks for all of your insight and humor. You've helped me to understand myself a lot better and our universe of relationships, too. G-d bless you.

I found Rockie's column during a challenging period in my life. I had just moved to Maryland, away from family and needed to find balance for life in the Washington, DC bubble. I have followed Rockie's column since 1984 - and quite honestly, I feel her insights and interpretations were guiding light for me. My sincere condolences and my admiration for her life well-lived. Christine (Cancer, the Crab)

I'm so saddened to learn of Rockies passing. I've followed her column and her insight for years and no one else has gotten it better. She was the best reason to pick up the "Weekly". I've had her personal horoscope projection several times and it was always right on. I'll miss her advice and insight. I look forward to seeing her the next time around. Peace and blessings Rockie.

  • Lynne Warberg 11/10/2008 7:04:00 AM

My condolences to "Rockie's " family and friends. I thought of her as a friend and looked forward to reading her daily insights. She will be sorely missed.

The one week I miss the column, I come back to Rockie's obituary. I've been a fan of Rockie Horoscope since I first discovered LA Weekly in 1995, and ever since, I've never missed a week; either tracking the last paper down in my neighborhood or hunting it down online, waiting patiently in the Eastern time zone for the daily forecast to be posted. And now I'm feeling a distinct loss. "It's just a column!" I keep telling myself. But really, it was so much more. Although I cherished her wit and writing style, it was her clear-cut, accurate astrology that kept me coming back. In a field full of quacks and vague euphemistic writing, Rockie's straightforward text stood out, giving information you could really use. Like street signs that point you out of an unfamiliar neighborhood, her column pointed me in the right direction on days I needed a little help. Not to mention all those SuperBowls she predicted so accurately! Now where will I go to find out when Mercury goes retro? I was lucky enough to meet Ms. Gardiner once, in Malibu. I was pleased to see she was just the same in person as she was in print. I've often wished I could've afforded a longer, proper reading. So, rest in peace, Rockie. I'll miss your memorial but you'll always be remembered.

I really, really, really connected with Ms. Rockie Gardiner. I first discovered her uncanny, cerebral connections, approach and abilities at decifering the astrological interactions and her applications of this information to each and every human being on this earth so appropriately, with relevance and an astute advisory capacity that was on the money, including the caveats. I first saw her column in our City Paper. Considering myself an astrological buff, her columns rocked my world sufficiently. So much so, to miss one would leave me almost emotionally unstable. In addition to the intricate report she provided , she also gave a scrutiny into others. If you knew their sun, moon and ascendant signs, one could prepare for the week armed with insights about coworkers, bosses, lovers etc., that could assist your discussions, plans and actions. She validated the use and value of astrology unlike any other astrologer, other than Patrick who wrote for the New York Post and passed away many years ago. Thank you for the insight into her life and the picture. I am devastated & lost but spiritual. I must face the future without her insights which enhanced my ability to communicate, plan, decide and interact with others. Learning of her passing made me weak in the knees. It is a loss that leaves me without guidance and insight on how to behave. Sally Brompton, an astrologer with the New York Post is her closest comparison but limited in many ways. So my journey is now unclear and stunted from day to day and I am filled with wonder and pause when I contemplate where do I go from here? I know the show must go on but how? My sincerest Condolences to her loved ones.

Wisdom and insight dispensed with wit and style - for years Ive started the day with my morning coffee and Rockie. Ive not seen any others who write a daily column that sorts out the major influences for all of us (not just by sun sign) - and I do believe her advice has kept me out of trouble more than once! I'm just now beginning to realize how much I learned about astrology over the many years I read Rockie's columns. At first I didn't understand a lot of what she wrote, but I kept reading, and the concepts just sort of sank in gradually, thanks to her mix of traditional and original, modern, highly descriptive keywords. I spent most of yesterday reading/studying astrology. Now that Rockie is gone, I want to understand it better because I cant lean on her anymore. Down-to-earth writing about the heavens is in very short supply. I really miss Rockie already - my condolences to all of you who were close to her - such a loss. Thank you, Rockie, for all you have given us!

Rockie's column has been my homepage for the past 10 years after moving from the LA area where I was always anxious to pick up the latest paper edition. I was curious why there wasn't a new column for several days but just thought Rockie was out soaking up cosmic vibes a little longer than usual only to learn she had actually joined the stars & at 11:11 on Samhain - how apropos. A long time student of astrology, I was always amazed with her uncanny accuracy & her delightfully blunt Sadge humor was the best ! To say she'll be missed is a huge understatement. It's always painful when family & friends depart but as another aptly stated, it's a very strange feeling to lose a friend you never met. Hope there will be an article after the memorial for those of us who can't attend & how kind of the family to have a public one. Thanks too for posting her background info. Many blessings Rockie & to your family & friends. Farewell with much love from another avid stargazer who will never forget you.

I have faithfully read Rockie's Horoscopes in LA Weekly for many years now. Her horoscopes were something I always looked forward to every Thursday, and I was never disappointed with her predictions. She will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences and prayers go out to her son and family.

ACK!! I am bereft. Who can I turn to after 20 years of my oh so too often accurate Rockie? My heart is broken, but it was wonderful to finally put a face to the column I have been reading and relying on for so long. Wherever I was in the world I would check on her for guidance, now she has transcended us again too soon. Peace and thanks to her

Ye Gods, I am so upset to learn this! I looked forward to reading Rockie's upbeat 'scopes every week and this just shocks me. I will miss her great vibes and direct, to-the-point planatery direction. Rest in Peace, Rockie and stellar paths to ya!

Dear Rocky, you will be truly missed. I went on line Thursday to read my horoscope (which I've read for over twenty years), I couldn't believe what I was reading, I had to read it three times. Rocky you helped me make sense of these troubled times. May your soul rest in peace. Adena

it was about 4 years ago when I discovered Rockie. It's just about when my studies in astrology began. It is the only reason I visited the site. What I have learned in a 5 minute read every week, truly has changed my life. I always wondered what she looked like and there she is...the picture of her. She's beautiful. I will miss you Rockie and now more than ever I know that astrology is my passion. You are a huge reason why. Keep seeking and expanding my Sag... Niko

I have read my Rockie horoscope faithful since the 80's and am missing her greatly. I trust her completely and wish her a safe journey. Much love to her family and friends.

  • Roy 11/08/2008 11:09:00 PM

Rockie: I met you in 1981 when you gave me a 2 hour reading of insight into my life past, present and future. It was an afternoon I have never forgotten, since you were so "right on" about me, and my past at the time. Now, 27 years later, the majority of your insights and predictions have materialized and are still unfolding. I have been blessed my entire 62 years of life of being very intuitive and psychic for others, as you pointed out in the reading, but had trouble of seeing for myself at times. When I moved from LA over 10 years ago, I was still able to keep in touch with you every week through your column and you helped me to continually look back at myself from a vivid and to the point perspective. You told me in the not to distant past that I would soon be "going it alone", now I truly know what you meant. You may not be in reality with us that are, but your presence is very much still here and will remain. I along with your family and hundreds of thousands of friends, will shed a tear and greatly miss you physically, but we will not "go it alone", because we know you are still here with us. Thank you for being in my life............

  • Steve 11/08/2008 9:40:00 PM

Rockie provided insights during some of the most troubling periods of my life. Often times it was difficult to understand her forecasts because of the true intensity they were written in which left me on my own to figure the week ahead out. This only made me read her column with greater devotion and over time I gained tremendous insight as to the purposes of the planets and how we were affected by them. In addition to reading my own forecast, I read and tried to make sense of all the others as well so that I could have a greater understanding how I figured into the whole crazy mix. By doing this it also helped me to understand who and what may need to be avoided/enjoyed during the coming week(s). I will truly miss her help. She left such a mark on my life and I am already at a loss. However, wherever she is she is still with me, guiding and helping those who were avid devotees. Thank You Rockie.

  • Monica 11/08/2008 8:20:00 PM

Go on Rockie onto your next adventure Because of all your hard work and the deep words you shared with all of us we can go forward with confidence. I know that wherevere you are you know the changes that are taking place. Rest now and know that we will miss you here but will think of you and where you are now. I will miss your wisdom and fun. Monica

My jaw hit the floor when I read about the passing of Rockie this week. She will be (and is already) missed by her friends and readers. I was so happy when I discovered her column online years ago, as I had found someone who wrote horoscopes that actually incorporated the planetary aspects. Things have changed since then and there are more astrologers out there doing it. But there will never be another "Rockie".

  • Judithanne Westrope 11/08/2008 7:25:00 PM

There is no one like her in the world of astrology. She was wise and funny and I will miss her.
