Fly off the Wall

LA Opera presents the U.S. premiere of Howard Shore’s operatic version of the old sci-fi classic about a scientist who inadvertently mutates into a giant man-fly when an experiment goes awry. It’s appropriately directed by David Cronenberg, director of the 1986 movie version, with music by the great film composer Shore, whose scores for The Lord of the Rings trilogy won no less than three Oscars and four Grammys. Cast includes bass-baritone Daniel Okultch as Seth Brundle, mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose as Veronica Quaife, tenor Gary Lehman as Stathis Borans, and mezzo-soprano Beth Clayton as Officer Cheevers. Conducted by Placido Domingo.
