Think Pad: Little Temple and Bar One

Check out weekly nights at these venues

Local faves Mr. Choc and DJ Hapa bring their move-bustin’ night known as The Bridge back to Little Temple this week, and if you haven’t checked these guys’ infectious mixes and effortless turntable tricks, prepare to be impressed (they are, after all, teachers at the Scratch DJ Academy). But don’t expect (way-too-easy) club bangers here. As the invite to their party sums up pretty succinctly, “If you’re looking to rock out to Soulja Boy or Flo Rida, this is not the party for you. If you want some De La mixed in with TLC, and a little bit of Biggie Smalls — holllaaa! You found the spot.” If this duo’s old-school groove lessons weren’t enough, they’re welcoming a special guest, too: mix-tape master/radio wonder DJ Revolution, a scratch king who lives up to his name in more ways than one. On the other side of town, same night, we recommend another nonjiggy but still-jammin’ gathering called “Think” at Bar One, where Reggae Rog (of Hellcat Records’ the Aggrolites) burns up the funk and soul mixes, and brings an Eastside vibe to the 818. The Bridge at the Little Temple, 4519 Santa Monica Blvd., Silver Lake (www.myspace.com/thebridgela) and Think at Bar One, 12518 Burbank Blvd., N. Hlywd. (www.myspace.com/bar1noho); both Fri., March 28, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 21.
