Half-naked vamps and creepy cads haunt Hollywood — and its surrounding areas — after dark all the time, but there’s only one time a year that compels most of us to join ’em, and it’s here once again, kiddies. Below are some of this year’s most intriguing Halloween dance-club parties (especially some on the wicked weekend before).
Fri., Oct. 26
Kandy Halloween Slutty trumps scary every time when it comes to female Halloween costumes, and you won’t see more of them (or, more accurately, less of them) than at this sexy sweets-themed shindig. Of course, you’ll pay a lot for it too: tix, which include food and booze, go for a grand and more. At the Playboy Mansion, 10236 Charing Cross Rd., Beverly Hills. 8 p.m.-3 a.m.; over 21. www.jenyc.com/halloweenplayboy.
Miss Kitty’s Halloween Masquerade Ball Fetishistic frolics, flamboyant performances (Masuimi Max, Jackie Beat) and even more wild get-ups than usual make this long-running quasi-sexual soiree the perfect place to kick off the Hallow’s Eve hell-raising. Dragonfly, 6510 Santa Monica Blvd., Hlywd.; 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 21; $20. www.misskittysparlour.com.
Monster Massive Get possessed by the biggest, baddest boogie men around — Armin Van Buuren, Judge Jules, Felix Da Housecat (his new CD, Virgo Blaktro and the Moviedisco, is to die for!), Digitalism, Reza, Barry Weaver and more — at this annual haunted house–meets–dance extravaganza. Different areas of electronic musical mayhem, including the “Tomb of Doom,” House of Horror,” “Witches Woods” and “Devils Dungeon,” to get lost in until the wee hours. L.A. Sports Arena, 3939 S. Figueroa Ave., dwntwn.; 8 p.m.-4 :30 a.m.; all ages; $35-$50. www.monstermassive.com.
Haunted Hotel Things may not be as scary as they were when Amanda Scheer Demme guarded the gates like a gargoyle, but the Roosevelt Hotel’s haunted past still makes it the perfect place to play dress-up for the most ominous time of the year. Beastie Boys beatman Mixmaster Mike headlines, The Sounds take their turn on the decks along with Andy Caldwell, and all of the landmark building — including its hot spots Teddy’s, Dakota and poolside Tropicana Bar — are part of the fiendish festivities. 7000 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd.; 8 p.m.-3 a.m.; over 21; $55-$75. www.trafficevents.com.
Highlands Halloween Lingerie and Costume Ball Though Marilyn Manson hosts this mash of DJs and skimpy-skivvied dames, don’t expect a goth-o-rama. Hardball and Joe Joe Promotions’ usual crowd is more weekend warrior than groovy ghouly. Still, things should get pretty demented on the dance floor with DJs Shift (Tao and Body English in Vegas) and local fave Poet Named Life bludgeoning pop hits and hip-hop. 6801 Hollywood Blvd. (4th floor)., Hlywd.; 9 p.m.-3 a.m.; over 21; $40-50. (323) 461-9800.
Bats and Butterflies When it comes to eerie ambience and dance ?grooves from the darkside, nothing beats Bar Sinister. Special for the holiday, there’ll be aerialists, “freaks” and a costume contest, plus a performance by Godhead. Don’t forget your wings. Boardner’s, 652 N. Cherokee Ave., Hlywd.; 10 p.m.-3 a.m.; over 21; $18. (323) 462-9621.
Se7en Deadly Sins This MTV-hosted hang features ’80s tribute terrors The Spazzmatics and DJ Graham Funke hamming it up for costumed crazies. The night of lust, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, gluttony and pride will be telecast live. Blvd. 3, 6523 Sunset Blvd., Hlywd.; 9 p.m.-4 a.m.; over 21; $25.
Bondage Ball With an “island of punishment,” “latex lounge” and giveaways from Extreme Restraints, this brutal bacchanal ain’t playin’ around. Sex columnist Anka Radakovich guest hosts. DJs spin appropriately hard-pounding electro and industrial. Henry Fonda Theatre, 6126 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd.; 9 p.m.-3 a.m.; over 21 ;$25. www.bondageball.com.
Beat It The thriller night’s special Halloween bash offers DJs spinning memorable sounds from the grave (the ’80s) in three rooms. Expect the most retrolicious costumes (of course there’ll be a contest). The Ruby, 7070 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd.; 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 18; $10.
