A Chanticleer Christmas

If you’ve never had the extraordinary pleasure of hearing Chanticleer, there’s no better time to remedy that situation than Christmas. But getting a ticket can be a problem: The Grammy Award–winning “orchestra of voices” — and the only full-time classical vocal ensemble in the U.S. — usually brings sellout crowds to its holiday performances. Named for the “clear singing” rooster in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, the 12-member a cappella all-male ensemble is known for its seamless, pure sound, versatile repertoire and infectious good cheer, and invariably delivers an experience of sheer delight. This week, the boys will make Disney Hall ring with a program of medieval and Renaissance sacred works, carols and spirituals that “celebrate the true mystery and wonder of Christmas.” Get that ticket now. Disney Hall, Tues., Dec. 19, 8 p.m.; $23-$69. (323) 850-2000 or www.laphil.org.
