In a brisk five years, this celebration of local choreography has claimed a place in the front ranks of Southland modern-dance festivals. This year’s edition opened last weekend with two previews at the Santa Monica Pier and downtown L.A.’s Central Library. This weekend’s final free preview at Torrance’s Del Amo shopping mall at 10:30 a.m. is followed by two-hour workshops at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center led by choreographers Winifred Harris (10 a.m.), Chad Michael Hall (noon) and Shannon Preto (2 p.m.). A site-specific performance of Carlos Rodriguez’s On the Clock at 7:30 p.m. in the theater lobby precedes the festival’s concluding concert, and a post-performance discussion with the artists follows the final bows. In addition to the workshop leaders, the concert includes BE Productions, Marie Hoffman, Sheetal Gandhi, Vox Dance Theater, Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company and festival producer Regina Klenjoski’s eponymous troupe. Lots of ways to catch up with these featured artists at a festival that each year gets better and better. James Armstrong Theater, 3330 Civic Center Dr., Torrance; Sat., Nov. 11, 8 p.m.; $18, $14 seniors & students. (310) 781-7171 or www.rkdc.org.
