Francisco Martinez’s dances are as varied as his far-ranging interests, yet all reflect his deep affection for movement, music and the intriguing possibilities for combining the two. Among the scheduled works for this 25th-anniversary concert is the premiere of Thé Vert (Green Tea), backed by songs from an array of Brazilian composers. Two repertoire favorites are being reprised: the award-winning Miniatures (2000), inspired by Modigliani’s portraits, with an original score from Ed Barguiarena; and Cinnamon Flower (2002), set to Peruvian songs by María Dolores Pradera. The dancers include Iris Andersen, Michele Bachar, Seth Belliston, Veronica Caudillo, Noune Diarbekirian, Rowdy Metzger, Jean Michelle Sayeg and John Todd.

Anniversaries are occasions to celebrate and also to reflect on choices made and choices to come. In addition to creating dances and employing dancers, Martinez extends his interest in dance far beyond his own company, devoting time, intelligence and energy to the development of the Dance Resource Center and its annual Lester Horton Awards for excellence in local dance. True, he’s won several Horton Awards himself, but for good reason — and the proof can be enjoyed onstage. Torrance Cultural Arts Center, James R. Armstrong Theater, 3350 Civic Center Dr., Torrance; Sat., Oct. 28, 8 p.m.; $20, $15 students & seniors, $10 children under 12. (818) 988-2192 or info@fmdt.org.
