Partch Dances

As a composer who whacked a solitary path through many of the existing assumptions of the musical world, Harry Partch might well be amused at how his work now attracts legions of adoring fans. And the prospect of a company devoted to physicalizing his maverick music might elicit an outright chuckle. Partch Dances returns for its third appearance at REDCAT with a real gem: a recently discovered Partch composition, Sonata Dementia. The program also includes Castor and Pollux for six dancers and The Intrusions. The tribute includes footage of the composer captured in performance in the 1972 documentary The Dreamer That Remains. At REDCAT, Disney Hall, Second & Hope sts., dwntwn.; Tues., May 30, 8:30 p.m.; $24, $12 students. (213) 237-2800 or www.redcat.org.
