Metal sandwich: Nightranger's Jack Blades, Styx's Tommy Shaw (who wasn't in Nightranger though everybody thinks he was... he was actually in Damn Yankees with Blades and Ted Nugent!) and moi. Thanks for the name Jack!

{mosimage}MOTORIN!

Just when you thought the ’80s revival was starting to chill, the musical Rock of Ages is here to reheat the hesher love. This headbangin’-to-the-oldies revue, which opened at The Vanguard on Saturday, features tunes by everyone from Pat Benatar to Whitesnake, and a cast including Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass and Wicked’s Laura Bell Bundy. But the real rock-star power was in the audience: We spotted longhair has-beens from Ratt, LA Guns, Dokken and Warrant(all of whom still work the bad-boy look, and ya gotta respect ’em for that!) — not to mention Perry Farrell and one Miss Debbie Gibson.Speaking of surreal, Nightranger even came face-to-face with the dudes from a little band called Night Ranger. In a surreality-related incident, we chatted up {mosimage}rhinestoned rawker CeCe Deville, who dished he’ll be on the next season of The Surreal Life — and “it’s all about me trying to mount Florence Henderson.” Now that’s a Very Brady Moment we have to see . . . Riding the nostalgia train from metal to mayhem, we ended the eve at The Dragonfly, where punk cover band Shithead, featuring members of The Chelsea Smiles(who are rumored to be calling it quits), Sepultura and Bad Religion, tore into classics by the Dead Boys, Fear Cult and Motörhead, and welcomed Slipknot’s Corey Taylor (unmasked!) and Anthrax’s Scott Ianonstage. Keep your ears perked for this outfit’s next gig, ’cause they are, indeed, the shit.

BOOGIE NIGHTS

Speaking of “Sister Christian,” etc.: Heather Graham may have had the shortest TV sitcom career ever (her new NBC show was recently canceled after just one episode . . . ouch!) but she didn’t seem to be missing the {mosimage} laugh tracks last Friday, when she celebrated her B-day at the Short Stop in Echo Park. The ’Stop has been off the hook ever since they brought the DJs back, but a celeb schlep it ain’t — not normally, anyway. [Truly, in a just world, would Heather Graham be a “celeb”? — ed.] We felt strange enough bumping & grinding alongside a giddy Rollergirl and actor pals including Eva Mendez, Chris Kattan, Jeremy Sisto, Matthew Perry, and Seth Greenin the red-lit dance room — but when KC & the Sunshine Band came on, it was just plain bizarre, in that coked-out-’70s-discotheque-P.T.-Anderson kinda way. Also weird: We got there late enough to waltz right in, but we hear Graham actually had a private guest list and open bar beforehand, and most locals were denied. (It’s Echo Par-que, not Park City, people!) . . . Earlier at the sold-out Morningwood/Head Automatica show at The Roxy, the girls were out in more ways than one: A female fan took the group’s tour-tee slogan, “It’s Tits,” a little too literally, dancing topless onstage as singer Chantal Claret crooned “Take Off Your Clothes.” Automatica, by the way, were godhead . . . Speaking of the Roxy, Prince made another Strip appearance playing backup with Tamar there on Tuesday as Elijah Wood, DJ AM and Eva Mendez (girlfriend’s been out and about!) looked on. [She was totally at the Strokes Troubador show a couple weeks ago, too. — ed.] Wonder where the Purple One will pop up next.
