Rock & roll spitfire Dayle Gloria(the driving force behind legendary L.A. music joints like Scream and Club With No Name in the early ’90s) is such a staple on the Strip these days, she’s even filming her own reality show about it, called Queen of the Sunset Strip. The “ambassador” of Metal Skool Mondays and promoter of Videostar, an ’80s new-wave tribute on Thursdays (both at Key Club), Gloria’s also got a hot new musical discovery, rockin’ pretty boy Brett Hellings, whom we caught Tuesday at the Viper Room. The kid has it all: looks, swagger and a backing band called The Remedy who jam out balls out. . . . Also on the Viper bill, saucy ’70s-minded slackers Whitestarr, who never got much respect thanks to their rich-kid pedigrees: Singer Cisco Adler is music impresario Lou’s son, and drummer Alex Orbison is Roy’s offspring. Cisco’s love life hasn’t helped, either; he’s dating The OC’s Mischa Barton, and his ex before her was Kimberly Stewart. Still, Tuesday served up one of the best Whitestarr sets we’ve seen — loose and lick-happy thanks to newish guitarist “Rainbow” Jeramy Gritter (many might remember his afro in Run Run Run) and the interpretive stage dances of honorary member Tony Potato, who brings to mind a hairier Har Mar Superstar. Oh, and we didn’t see Barton, but we def see what she sees in Cisco: His music ain’t exactly original, but his scuzzy sex appeal sucked us in. The band continue their Tuesday-night residency at the Viper Room, January 24. . . . Speaking of the strip, the Key Club’s new sister venue at Morongo Casino near Palm Springs is bringing some rockin’ Sunset-style sass to the venue’s usual gambling-granny set, something not even Desert Rain managed before it. The grand-opening party with Duran Duran and DJ AM this past weekend was raging to the rafters (literally — skyboxes surround the club), and with a schedule that features Metal Skool every Friday night, plus bands like She Wants Revenge, X and Ozomatli, this spot should hit the jackpot.
